PRODUCTS - JAMES DICK

Please find descriptions below of just some of the products that we make in James Dick Gravel Pits and Quarries across Ontario. We supply everything so if you don’t see it here, just ask! The following products are our most popular consumer-based products.

3/4” Granular “A” (20mm Granular “A”)

If you are building up a driveway or a parking lot, Granular “A” is the way to go. It is made up of ¾ stone right down to a fine sand and everything in between. This allows it to pack down tight for a resilient surface....
Granular “B”

If you are building a new road or parking lot, or if you are building a building pad, Granular “B’ is normally laid down on the native soil after all topsoil has been removed. Usually a good road will have 12” of Granular “B” topped with 8” of Granular “A”. Granular “B” runs from 2” gravel down to a fine sand.
Limestone Crusher Run ¾” and 2” (20mm and 50mm)

This is the Cadillac of granulars, allowing for a more durable surface that will resist erosion. Limestone , being all crushed material, is structurally more solid than gravel products, allowing a slightly thinner profile to accomplish the same job.
Brick Sand

Brick Sand is a fine sand used in all masonry applications. Laying Brick or Stone, use Brick Sand with your favorite masonry cement to provide nice tight mortar that is easy on the wrists and spreads like icing on a cake! This is also the best material to use for sandbox sand.
¾” Round Stone (20mm Round Stone)

Round Stone is the ultimate drainage stone. Used in trenches and around foundations and weeping tile, this stone will never pack due to it’s round shape. Also makes excellent roofing stone that won’t cut your roof membranes if someone decides to take a stroll up there. This product can also be used for some concrete mixes like floors where a high finish is required.
Round Stone (Pea Stone)

Pea Stone is used in many applications, drainage under patio slabs, as a roofing stone, and even as a soft place to land in Playground applications.
Concrete Sand and Asphalt Sand

James Dick makes the best Concrete Sand in the land! A nice sharp sand that finishes well and provides the strength required for durable concrete mixes. We have built everything from skyscrapers to backyard patios with this material. We also make high quality Asphalt Sands to suit the specific needs of any producer.
¾” Concrete Stone (20mm Concrete Stone)

This is an excellent choice for use in concrete mixes for non-exposed concrete applications. If you are doing basement walls, footings or foundation work, this stone has been used successfully for decades. For exposed flatwork such as sidewalks and curbs exposed to salt and ice, we recommend using ¾” (20mm) Limestone Concrete Stone.
¾” Limestone Concrete Stone (20mm Limestone Concrete Stone)

This is the best material to use in concrete work that will be exposed to the elements in applications such as pavement or sidewalks.
Track Sand

This is the ultimate Equestrian track and arena sand in Ontario. It drains well, is a firm footing and has been used in some of the most prestigious horse events in the country.
Sand Fill

Backfilling a foundation or bringing up the grade of a lot, Sand Fill is just what you need. More economical than gravel products, it is gentle on concrete, buried pipes and cables while providing an easy to grade, well-drained surface.
Septic Sand

Well, we all know what flows down hill… it’s what happens at the bottom of the hill that matters! That’s where James Dick Septic Sand comes in. For superior septic beds James Dick Septic Sand has been used to construct thousands of quality beds. We also carry Filter Sand for aerobic beds.
River Stone

After being smoothed and rounded after tumbling down huge glacial rivers, James Dick River Stone is a landscaper’s dream. Available in qualities large and small, this material will take the edge off any landscape with its inherent smoothness.

Armour Stone you ask? All shapes and sizes in various thicknesses are available through our Sebright Quarry and our dimension stone operating partner, Allstone Quarries Inc. Recycled Concrete and Asphalt

As a founding Member of Aggregates Recycling Ontario, James Dick produces quality crushed recycled concrete and asphalt products. These are considered Green Products and can get you points in LEEDS, and with the environment. Made in a 2” size, this product is a terrific, cost effective substitute for granular road base products such as Granular “B”. We recommend that this material should be topped with a few inches of Granular “A” to finish the job up nicely.
Baseball Mix

Baseball Mix is a blend of high-quality, fine aggregates that is safe to play on, drains well and is low on maintenance. Our Baseball Mix is an excellent alternative to limestone screenings.
